Forever was Forgotten

I remember running through the field.

I remember children laughing with me.

I remember how all of us promised it would last forever.

I looked on in disbelief,

One by one, they turned their backs.

Their footsteps echoed,

Fading into oblivion.

I stand alone now,

With nothing but glistening tears,

And a broken heart.
